SEVERE WEATHER ALERT 2-16,2023 Mid-Morning Update

Many are wondering about the timing of severe storms and what to expect in Middle Tennessee. Most everyone agrees we will be paying close attention from noon to 5 or 6 for our reading area. There has been a slight elevation in tornado chances this afternoon. Most will see a “break” which will allow the atmosphere to recharge so to speak. Flash flooding remains a strong possibility and hail could be seen in some areas.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for Middle Tennessee.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Strong to severe storms will be possible this morning through the
afternoon hours. Strong to damaging wind gusts will be the primary
threat, but isolated tornadoes as well as heavy rain leading to
flooding will also be possible. The threat of severe weather will
come to an end with the passing of the cold front.

Today
Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am. High near 69. South wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Tonight
Showers and thunderstorms before 1am, then a slight chance of showers between 1am and 2am. Low around 34. Southwest wind around 15 mph becoming northwest in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
